Circumvention Central is a testing platform designed to help users measure their network connection quality and censorship circumvention capabilities. The tool provides important metrics about your internet connection's performance, stability, and ability to access various online resources.
When you run a test, we collect the following information: your selected location, circumvention tool name and version (if applicable), test results (speed, latency, stability, streaming quality), and technical information about your browser and system.
Technical information collected includes: browser type and version, operating system, device platform, language settings, and other browser capabilities. If you specify that you are using a circumvention tool, we also collect the IP address. Since circumvention tools typically proxy your traffic, this IP address represents the circumvention service's exit node, not your personal IP address. We perform automatic geolocation on this IP address to determine the country, city, and region of the exit node.
All data is stored for research and analysis purposes to help improve internet freedom tools. Test results are publicly viewable but are not linked to any personal identifiers. IP addresses are kept private and are never publicly displayed or shared with third parties.
